What’s Tanela Been Up To Lately?

Well I definitely have been busy on all fronts. Life is moving, and for better or worse; I am thankful to be here for it all. As you read this fun recap of the last 4 months, I hope you have had moments filled with at least a little good. Enough to give you hope for months of good instead of just days.

As many may remember, I am a Programming Manager for my local public library. I am closing my creative mind to summer program planning to implementation and starting to think about fall themes, and relevant enrichment for the public. I love this part of my yearly programming cycle. I have more time to think slowly and deliberate my choices before starting the paperwork and other tedious task. I am thankful to have a very engaging presentation list for the summer programming. I am looking forward to seeing how that turns out. I am hopeful that every patron sees the value, need, and purpose of their public libraries. We Are Important!

Family is doing well and skating through these days with best foot forwards every day. My two sons are looking forward to football season 2025. And my daughter will be warming up to the 2025 basketball season. I love seeing my children excel in their sports. It reminds me and my husband that we are doing something right. My husband and I are looking forward to celebrating 17 years of marriage. I am overjoyed to have such a wonderful strong man to support me in my writing career.

I have seen grief a little more often lately. I understand that we are not to be on this earth every day. We are blessed for every moment and since no one knows the day or the hour, we should approach each day with joy and love.

My friends and sister circle of life have continue to keep me laughing, supported, and a listening ear in my life. The feeling of having some one and a bunch of someone’s who can listen, pray, and laugh with you about life exercises, is a beautiful thing. I am glad I have a strong set of people in my life. I hope I am treating them as well as they are treating me.

Books! I have been on a small rollercoaster with reading and writing. My pallet seems to change often and swiftly. I went from truths and traumas of the late 1800’s story Yellow Wife by Sadeq Johnson to low stakes comedy and love tale Drunk on Love by Jasmine Guillory. Dynamic in their own ways. I am still slowly but diligently progressing in my most anticipated romantasy choice for 2025, The Last One by Rachell Howzell. Throw in thriller, The Quarry Girls by Jess Lourey, and a few half relistening’s of contemporary romance like Vi Keeland’s Hate Notes and Stuck Up Suits. A few of these deserve full blown assessments and reviews, but my time has been pulled multiple directions at once and getting those out have been hard to commit to lately.

And lastly, my writing. I am glad to touch the end of the path for Cherrywood Inn: Let Me Love You. The cover reveal and introduction will be coming sooner than you think. Stay tuned to my socials and events pages.

The most important thing about reflecting on what has happened and is still happening, remaining grateful and prayerful has gotten me through. I was not alone. And I thank God everyday for all the moments that make up this life.
